Your Imperial Majesty,
Please accept my warmest congratulations, and those of the Lithuanian people, on the occasion of your birthday and Japan’s national holiday.
I would like to take the opportunity to wish your country and its people peace, continued success and prosperity. We are pleased to note that relations based on friendly people-to-people contacts between Lithuania and Japan are growing increasingly stronger. The people of Lithuania are very much interested in Japanese culture, traditions and language. At the same time, more and more visitors from Japan come to Lithuania. This mutual interest provides a solid foundation for the development of not only cultural, but also bilateral political and economic ties.
I firmly believe that successful joint projects and ideas launched by our citizens in science and innovation, transport and trade, cultural and educational exchange, as well as better understanding of our respective nations will continue to spread and strengthen the bonds of goodwill that exist between Lithuania and Japan.
Lithuania and Japan share the same values and the same approach to key global issues – which has shaped our today’s close partnership on the international arena. We highly appreciate the support extended by your country to Lithuania’s membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. I am confident that collaboration at both the bilateral level and within the context of relations with the European Union will contribute to ensuring the general welfare and security of our people.
May I again congratulate you on your birthday and national holiday. Please accept, Your Imperial Majesty, the assurances of my highest esteem and the best wishes of the Lithuanian people.
