I extend my warmest congratulations to you and the Canadian people on the 152nd anniversary of Canada Day. I wish your country and its people unity, well-being and continued success.
Canada is a very important ally of Lithuania and of all Europe. We have always worked closely together in addressing trade, climate change, anti-terrorism, human rights, and many other issues. Shared democratic values, cherished civil rights and freedoms, and a responsible approach to global challenges have led us to effective cooperation built on full mutual understanding.
Joint work within NATO has expanded and strengthened our bilateral dialogue. We highly value your country's spirit of responsibility and solidarity in security matters and its contribution to deterrence and consolidated defense across the whole of our region. Canada's determined posture has been reaffirmed by its decision to deploy troops in the Baltic region and to act as a lead nation for NATO's forward presence battle group. The citizens of Lithuania and the other Baltic States see it as an important token of friendship and an essential step to make the transatlantic community stronger.
We are delighted that our people enjoy close friendly ties and we support their further contacts across all possible areas. I firmly believe that collaborative work between the European Union and Canada will open many new opportunities for Lithuanians and Canadians to engage in joint business, innovation, scientific, student and societal exchange, and cultural activities.
May I again offer congratulations to you and the Canadian people on national day and wish you all a happy celebration. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.
