President Dalia Grybauskaitė

Message of congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II on Her Majesty’s Official Birthday

Your Majesty,

Allow me to join the congratulations to you and to the people of the United Kingdom on Your Majesty’s Official Birthday. On behalf of the Lithuanian people I wish you and the Royal family good health and continued happiness.

We highly value the United Kingdom as an important ally of Lithuania and a country with shared values. Our shared approach to many current challenges and matters of the European and security agenda lead to a successful dialogue on bilateral level as well as in the context of cooperation with the European Union and NATO.

We strongly support your country’s position on respect for international law, a responsible and solidarity-based approach to security resulting in increased cooperation between our two countries in defense matters and the specific contribution of the United Kingdom to deterrence and the security of our region.

I have no doubts that open and close political dialogue, shared values and comprehensive people-to-people contacts will contribute to even closer relations between Lithuania and the United Kingdom in the coming years. I am convinced that fruitful cooperation will allow the well-being of our people to grow and strengthen their freedoms, guaranteeing the political, economic and security interests of our states, partner countries and the transatlantic community.

I wish you, Your Majesty, the Royal family and all the people of the United Kingdom a happy celebration. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and the best wishes of the Lithuanian people.

Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania
