Wednesday, August 15, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations, both personally and on behalf of the Lithuanian people, to President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea on national holiday – Liberation Day – and the 70th anniversary of the Republic of Korea.
According to the President, the Republic of Korea is a very important and like-minded partner of Lithuania and of the European Union that shares values and interests in the context of contemporary international politics and trade challenges.
Dalia Grybauskaitė and the President of South Korea have met in February this year to discuss the development of bilateral relations between Lithuania and South Korea. Dalia Grybauskaitė stated that Lithuania highly valued the recent growth of bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Korea as well as relations between the European Union and Korea, notably in the area of trade.
The President expressed certainty that with the continuous deepening of relations between both states and with Lithuania’s membership in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, mutually beneficial dialogue between Lithuania and Korea would expand further and cooperation in business, innovations, science, research, education and student exchange would be ongoing.
In her message of congratulations to Korean people on national day, Dalia Grybauskaitė wished a happy celebration as well as every success, prosperity and peace.
