Tuesday, July 31, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Kęstutis Kudzmanas, Lithuanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.
At the meeting, the President and the newly appointed Ambassador discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Moldova and assist it along its European path.
Lithuania is consistent in supporting Moldova’s European integration. Nine twining projects for sharing Lithuania's experience in different public sector reforms are under implementation in Moldova. Lithuanian experts in customs, veterinary, statistics and other fields also work in Moldova.
The President urged the newly appointed Ambassador to engage in active collaboration not only with Moldavian politicians and diplomats but also with civil society and youth to promote fight against corruption and implementation of reforms that are necessary for Moldova.
It is also beneficial for Lithuania to enhance bilateral economic cooperation with Moldova. Currently, Lithuanian businesses invest in Moldova’s real property, IT, processing and manufacturing sectors; however, the volume of bilateral trade remains limited. Gathering and strengthening Lithuanians’ community in Moldova is yet another task for the Ambassador. Over 300 Lithuanians reside in Moldova.
Kęstutis Kudzmanas previously worked in the Lithuanian embassy in Russia and was Lithuania's ambassador to Azerbaijan and Turkey.
