President receives letters of credence from Chinese Ambassador


Wednesday, February 8, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Ambassador Zengwen Liu of the People's Republic of China.

Welcoming the new Ambassador of China, the President underscored the significance of ever growing cooperation of the countries, particularly in the fields of transport and logistics, business, information technologies, and culture. She also stressed the opportunities offered by train "Saulė" and encouraged China to use them effectively.
According to President Dalia Grybauskaitė, bilateral relations between Lithuania and China continue to develop, with regular high-level visits and emerging new possibilities for politicians, business people, scientists and artists to cooperate more closely.
During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed the best regards of the Chinese President and Vice-President and said that Lithuania was China's most important partner of the three Baltic States. The President emphasized that bilateral trade volumes in 2011 were record-breaking and urged to continue increasing them. She also reiterated her invitation to the Chinese leaders to visit Lithuania.
The 57-year-old Ambassador started his diplomatic career in 1980. Before his appointment to Vilnius, the diplomat served as Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Romania.
Zengwen Liu is China's eighth resident ambassador to Lithuania.
Diplomatic relations between Lithuania and China were established on 14 September 1991.
