Talented school students will create a more advanced Lithuania


Wednesday, December 19, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with the participants of international Olympiads and competitions for school students and congratulated the winners, their teachers and team leaders.

The President said that all of Lithuania was delighted to see their achievements in international competitions and world Olympiads. Each year, Lithuania's education system turns out many talented and creative young people who compete successfully and gain the highest-level recognition around the world.

"Creativity and youth in science paves the groundwork for the future of our country. Without talents we cannot build an innovative economy and ensure Lithuania's progress", the President underlined.

According to the President, it is tremendously important that talented people work for Lithuania. She stressed that every effort should be made for bright young people to receive world-level education and to create the necessary conditions for them not only to unfold their potential, but also to develop their talent and make their ideas a reality in their home country.

This year, 70 school students from Lithuania won 43 medals and diplomas at international Olympiads and competitions in chemistry, natural sciences, philosophy, geography, astronomy, astrophysics, and music.
