Friday, July 14, Münster, Germany – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended sincere congratulations on behalf of the people of Lithuania and on her own behalf to President Emmanuel Macron and the French people on Bastille Day.

The President underlined that Lithuania saw the people of France as key partners. She further noted that bilateral collaborative work between the two nations had been building up at a high pace over the last fourteen years since Lithuania joined the European Union and NATO.

According to the President, Lithuania supports the commitment shared by both countries to develop dialogue and seek joint solutions to continental and security challenges in order to revive public trust in the European Union, and to boost responsible leadership in trade and international affairs.

“We highly value your country's decision to deploy troops to NATO's forward presence in Lithuania and join the EU cyber rapid response force formation initiated by Lithuania,” the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

Dalia Grybauskaitė expressed her strong belief that political and economic cooperation, including people-to-people contacts, cultural ties, joint youth projects, as well as academic and scientific exchanges, would grow and expand.

As France celebrates the 229th anniversary of Storming of the Bastille, the President sent her best wishes for the continued peace, prosperity, and success of the French people.
