The President congratulated Israel on independence anniversary


Thursday, April 19, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President Reuven Rivlin on the 70th anniversary of Israeli Independence Day. The President sent her best wishes for the continued peace, unity and prosperity of Israel and its people.

This year both Lithuania and Israel are celebrating national anniversaries that are very dear to their citizens. “We see Israel and the Israeli people as very good, close and important partners of Lithuania with whom we share common interests, goals and projects,” the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

She pointed out that bilateral dialogue was growing stronger and more dynamic across many areas, opening up new beneficial opportunities, improving national well-being and security, developing science and innovation as well as improving mutual understanding through people-to-people, academic and cultural contacts.

The President underlined that Lithuania was proud to be home to an active Jewish community and to share common history, close ties and expanding knowledge of each other. The President expressed her confidence that the dialogue between Lithuania and Israel counting nearly thirty years of existence and centuries-long bonds between their people further would continue to grow and expand.
