The President congratulated Slovenia on Statehood Day


Saturday, June 25, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations, both personally and on behalf of the Lithuanian people, to President Borut Pahor of Slovenia and the people of his country as they celebrate the twenty fifth anniversary of Slovenia’s Statehood Day.

This year marks the twenty fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Slovenia. According to the President, over this period Lithuania and Slovenia have successfully consolidated and given a true meaning to their statehood through determined efforts to ensure the general good and security of their people.

In her message of congratulations, Dalia Grybauskaitė emphasized that Lithuania and Slovenia had always remained like-minded countries and established themselves in the community of nations sharing common democratic values. The President pointed out that against the background of today’s challenges the two countries supported each other and were reliable partners in pursuing shared goals in the European Union and NATO.

Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the Slovenian President strong health and continued success, as well as long years of prosperity to Slovenia and its people.
