The President congratulated Thailand on national day


Saturday, July 28, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun of Thailand on his birthday and national day.

This year Lithuania and Thailand mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. According to the President, the bonds between the two nations have grown stronger, mutual knowledge of each other has deepened, and tourism has expanded over these years. All of this promotes the successful development of joint cultural and business projects, strengthens bilateral relations and creates more opportunities for people to engage in mutually beneficial and meaningful activities. Over the past several years, the two countries have focused their efforts to develop political dialogue and expand bilateral visits.

The President expressed her strong hope that the bonds of friendship between Lithuanian and Thai citizens and would not lose momentum and that bilateral collaboration based on openness, respect and common interests at the bilateral level and in the context of relations with the European Union would contribute to the well-being and security of both nations.

Dalia Grybauskaitė took the opportunity to congratulate the people of Thailand with the successful rescue of the stranded young footballers and their coach. “It sent a message of wonderful news to the world watching with great concern as the events unfolded. Professional and effective work performed by the rescue team helped find the trapped boys and preserve their lives. I offer my condolences to the family of the diver who died during the rescue mission and my deepest sympathies to the people of Thailand,” the President wrote.

Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the Royal Thai Family continued health and success. She also sent her best wishes for the concord and prosperity of the people of Thailand.
