Sunday, October 28, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations on behalf of Lithuanian people to President Miloš Zeman of the Czech Republic on 100th Anniversary of Czech Independence.
According to the President, the Czech Republic was an important partner and ally of Lithuania. Extensive cooperation between Lithuania and the Czech Republic would hardly be possible without our membership of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. According to the President, Lithuania highly values the Czech Republic, our shared positions allow us to address the most relevant issues on the continent’s and security agenda successfully. It is particularly important that we share the same view to regional defense. We are grateful for consistent support of the Czech Republic and its contribution to security of the entire region by deploying Czech troops in NATO’s forward presence force in Lithuania.
The President expressed her conviction that bilateral dialogue based on shared values and interests of our countries would grow stronger and the opportunities offered by the European Union would foster friendship among citizens, especially young Europeans, determined to work together for our countries and the Continent’s prosperity.
The President wished the Czech Republic and its people continued success, welfare and unity.
