The President extended congratulations to Ukraine on Independence Day

Wednesday, August 24, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President Petro Poroshenko on the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

“Twenty five years ago, the people of Ukraine decided unanimously to create an independent state. You need to preserve this unity as you address and overcome the challenges faced by your country because that is the only way you will be able to continue walking down resolutely the path of reforms, build transparent institutions and deliver the aspirations of future generations to live in a modern and prosperous Ukraine,” the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Ukraine. The President underscored that over these years, the citizens of both countries had become very close and, precisely, such people-to-people support created the strongest foundation for successful bilateral cooperation. According to the President, Lithuania strongly supports the people of Ukraine – which has been symbolically reaffirmed this year by Lithuanian soldiers taking part in Ukraine’s Independence Day Parade.

Extending congratulations personally and on behalf of the Lithuanian people on the 25th anniversary of Independence Day, the President sent her best wishes for strength, peace and every success to the people of Ukraine.
