The President received letters of credence from Cuban Ambassador


Monday, August 27, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from Ambassador Eduardo Lazo Pérez of the Republic of Cuba.

According to the President, Lithuania supports the development of dialogue between the European Union and Cuba and the deepening of economic relations. The President and the newly appointed Ambassador discussed bilateral trade on the rise and highlighted the necessity to continue promoting business contacts.

In reference to cultural cooperation, the President underscored that Cuba was very attractive for Lithuanian tourists; therefore, the development of tourism was a potential area for promoting mutual relations and cultural knowledge.  

The diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Cuba were established on 26 September 2013.

Eduardo Lazo Pérez is the second Cuban Ambassador accredited to Lithuania. He resides in Helsinki. The Ambassador is also accredited to Latvia and Estonia. The diplomat began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba in 2001. He worked at the representations in Germany and Denmark. In 2012-2017, he served as adviser at the secretariat of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Since 2017, he has been serving as Ambassador to Finland.
