The President received letters of credence from Indian Ambassador


Monday, August 27, Vilnius President Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from Ambassador Tsewang Namgyal of the Republic of India.

At the meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador, the growing mutual dialogue, negotiations on bilateral agreements and business relations were discussed. According to the President, high technologies, biotechnologies and financial technologies are key in Lithuania-India economic cooperation.

Cooperation among Lithuanian and Indian universities, mutual tourism opportunities and cultural relations were also on the agenda. In 2017–2018 academic year, almost 1000 Indian citizens studied in Lithuania.

Last week, President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Julius Pranevičius, newly appointed Lithuanian Ambassador to India.

Tsewang Namgyal is the tenth India’s ambassador to Lithuania. The diplomat served at the Indian embassies in Cairo, Tunis, Brussels, Singapore and Ottava. In 2015–2018, he served as ambassador in Havana. Since 2018, he has been serving as ambassador to Poland. The diplomat resides in Warsaw.
