The President received letters of credence from Mexican and Ecuadorian ambassadors


Thursday, July 19, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Ambassador Jorge Lomonaco Tonda of Mexico and Ambassador Mario Anibal Guerrero Murgueytio of Ecuador.

During her meeting with the Ambassador of Mexico, the President focused on options for expanding bilateral cooperation ties, starting with building the relevant legal framework and advancing economic and trade relations. Among the other points of discussion was possible collaboration with respect to Lithuania's EU presidency next year.

After the presentation of credentials by the Ambassador of Ecuador, the President pointed out that relations between the two countries were minimal as yet. She urged the Ambassador to seek possible avenues for strengthening contacts between Lithuania and Ecuador.

Jorge Lomonaco Tonda is Mexico's sixth ambassador to Lithuania residing in Stockholm. In the course of his diplomatic career, he worked at Mexican representations in Miami (U.S.) and the Netherlands. He also served as permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Hague.

Mario Guerrero Murgueytio is Ecuador's fourth ambassador to Lithuania who will also reside in Stockholm. He holds a doctorate in international law and has been in the diplomatic service for more than 30 years. The Ambassador served in Ecuadorian representations in Sweden, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, Italy, and also to the United Nations in Geneva.
