The President received letters of credence from Portuguese ambassador


Tuesday, June 26, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Portuguese Ambassador João Pedro da Silveira Carvalho.

During their meeting, the President and the newly appointed Ambassador of Portugal to Lithuania discussed the further development of bilateral relations. They also reviewed cooperation between Lithuania and Portugal within the European Union and NATO and exchanged views on other issues topical for both countries.
According to the President, Lithuania and Portugal, both partners and allies in the European Union and NATO, will continue to cooperate closely in addressing the challenges of today, while at the same time advancing their bilateral ties.
In the course of his diplomatic career, João Pedro da Silveira Carvalho (63) served as Portuguese ambassador to Guinea-Bissau, Ireland, Canada and Denmark. He is Portugal's third ambassador to Lithuania.
