The President received letters of credence from the ambassador of Ecuador


Monday, March 18, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from Manuel Antonio Mejía Dalmau, Ambassador of Ecuador, and discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and bilateral agreements as well as relevant regional issues with the newly appointed ambassador.

According to the President, it is important to maintain closer trade relations between the European Union and Latin America. In 2016, Ecuador joined the EU-Columbia and Peru trade agreement which will open many more opportunities to the markets in both regions.

The President also encouraged to develop student exchange as well as tourism and cultural ties.

It is the fifth Ecuadorian Ambassador to Lithuania. Ambassador resides at Berlin. He speaks Spanish, English, German and Catalan. The diplomat has an economic background and has previously worked for various information technology companies.
