The President receives letters of credence from Ambassador Oshadhi Alahapperuma of Sri Lanka


Monday, April 23, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, Oshadhi Alahapperuma.

According to the President, Sri Lanka is best known in Lithuania for its tea which accounts for almost 90 percent of Sri Lanka's imports to our country. However, apart from tea sales, the cooperation of both countries has not reached a sufficient level yet.

The President considers that student exchange and trading in agricultural products might contribute to promoting the contacts between Lithuania and Sri Lanka.

Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the new Ambassador every success in discharging the responsible duties of his position.

The 39-year-old diplomat is the youngest ambassador in Sri Lanka's history. Oshadhi Alahapperuma is Sri Lanka's sixth ambassador to Lithuania residing in Stockholm. He is also accredited as ambassador to Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia.
